POLITICS Hillary Clinton goes off on Republicans after it’s revealed unauthorized images of her were released: I'm done with this. If you guys are doing that, I am done. You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home. This is just typical behavior.

Hegseth has killed more servicemen than Clinton. In 1/50th the time in office she had.

I expect him to be hounded by committees if he’s not outright court marshaled for war crimes.

doesnt seem like a single other country in this world cares

1.1k

They obviously care.

If someone just shot your neighbor you would care.

If the person who shot your neighbor is driving a tank and you have a handgun, you'll care, but quietly for self-preservation.

u/Knot-Lye-Ing 5d ago

For real.

This is like saying "Nobody seems to care about the mob killing all those guys and burning all those businesses, nobody stopped them, right?" and then patting yourself on the back for being such a clever boy.

Full "Deplorables" quote:

You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables(Laughter/applause) Right? (Laughter/applause) They're racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic – you name it. And unfortunately, there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people – now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive hateful mean-spirited rhetoric. Now, some of those folks – they are irredeemable, but thankfully, they are not America.

But the "other" basket – the other basket – and I know because I look at this crowd I see friends from all over America here: I see friends from Florida and Georgia and South Carolina and Texas and – as well as, you know, New York and California – but that "other" basket of people are people who feel the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures; and they're just desperate for change. It doesn't really even matter where it comes from. They don't buy everything he says, but – he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won't wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroin, feel like they're in a dead-end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well.

Anyone who thinks Hillary called them "Deplorable" self-selected themselves into the 1st basket.

absolutely wild how that is a dealbreaker and treated as an absolute insult but Donald can say worse things and that's "telling it as it is".

235

u/theredwoman95 5d ago

It always happens with "sensible" politicians. Over here in the UK, back in 2010, Gordon Brown was absolutely obliterated for saying this (without realising he was still mic'ed up) about a voter who was 'concerned' about immigration and crime:

Asked what she had said, he is heard to reply: "Ugh everything! She's just a sort of bigoted woman that said she used to be Labour. I mean it's just ridiculous. I don't know why Sue brought her up towards me."

Now, Gordon Brown certainly has other problems (one of them was recently arrested and is named in that article), but he was completely in the right there. Eight years later, Boris Johnson said women wearing burkas looked like "letterboxes" and still became Prime Minister afterwards. Racist populist politicians can get away with whatever they like, while their voters throw a hissy fit whenever they're accurately labelled as bigots.

132

u/[deleted] 5d ago

I'm sure you already know this, but half. She called half of them a basket of deplorables. For anyone who never heard or read the full quote, it changes the context completely:

You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? They're racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic – you name it.

Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well

It reinforced the overall theme of the 2016 election: people had felt let down by the government for so long that they were to willing to chuck the whole system, the whole world order, all the usual norms of civility, completely out the window. And honestly? It's hard not to empathize a tiny bit with the impulse, even seeing how horrible the consequences are a decade later.

If they wanted to shake up the system, if they had just read the room and saw how much frustration and anger was truly out there, then maybe they could've tried running a competent campaign.

tl;dr Bernie Sanders would've wiped the floor with that shitstain

And what’s crazy is either Mace or Boebert were complaining on twitter that Hillary was “unhinged” and “screeching,” probably from this exchange.

Them lying about her outburst PROVES exactly why Hillary wanted them to be public, wanted it out in the open, and only agreed to closed doors with very specific rules in place, which were broken before the hearing even started.

She had every right to be pissed and step out, given all the GOP has put her through for decades.

And of course here we are all these years later and it was Ken Starr in the Epstein files, defending Epstein, being in the room when Epstein got the “deal of the century.”  He’s the one who had to resign in shame after a huge sexual assault coverup at Baylor University when he was president.

Once again, Hillary being dragged through the mud by the very same people perpetrating and covering up what they are accusing her of doing.

I’m just sad he died from a botched surgery a few years ago and didn’t live to see all the creepy emails that he sent Epstein are public now.

America failed an open book test in 2016. America shoved their pencil up their noses willingly in 2024.

Say what you want about Kamala or Hillary, but they would NEVER have been as bad as this administration. Everything they told us was spot on.

There is no benefit to the American government having Lauren Boebert be a representative. She does nothing but cause problems.

They have released the footage from both depositions I'd assume after doing a pass to ensure nothing classified was said or whatever

She must’ve been really mad because her accent started to come out a bit. This is absolutely a clown show. Do they really think they can disrespect the law time and time again? She has been involved in politics a long time. Seriously?

How the hell did she manage to say “for heavens sake” instead of “for fucks sake” ?

I admire her restraint, I know what I’d have said.

Pretty sure if an average Joe did that in a court room to leak to the press, they’d probably be held in jail just long enough or fined high enough that an average person would be fucked over financially for at least the next two pay periods. Our country is a banana republic at this point

As much as I hate for loving genocide and accusing younger women of voting for Sanders to impress boys, she should never have been called to testify. She's not in the files colluding with Epstein or talking about sex crimes.

Why do people support this woman? Why are we pretending she is worth moral praise when she stood by her husband after he took advantage of a White House intern (we don’t talk about that). Not to mention, she did nothing to shift the narrative and fed Monica Lewinsky to the wolves. She never met Epstein? Maybe. Did she know her husband was involved with him? To claim she didn’t is an offense to her intelligence. She knows exactly who her husband is and who he’s been in bed with, both figuratively and literally. Hillary Clinton is smart. She is probably very capable of running this country. But she’s not a good person, and her silence on the matter of her husband’s wrongdoings makes her complicit. Even if deposing the Clintons is political, it’s deserved. The point is holding people accountable, and while it would nice for everyone to be held accountable at once, we shouldn’t be crying because they came first. When we do, we are giving energy to the politicization of the situation—we give MAGAs something to call us out on. Hold the Clinton’s accountable and hold Trump/others accountable.

You can be happy that the Clintons were deposed and be mad at the fact that Trump/other assholes haven’t been held accountable yet—these things are not mutually exclusive.

Either hold it in public like they asked originally or follow the rules for closed door. They have protocols and bylaws to adhere to. Shit show needs to stop.

Did Boebert take and leak that picture before or after she bumbled her way through a pizza-gate question?

u/daBunnyKat 5d ago

Hillary Clinton is a career politician of 50+ years. Like it or not, she knows what she is doing.
